1. What is sub-metering?
Sub-metering allows for equitable billing based on the tenants’ actual consumption of water/gas/electricity for each unit in a multi-unit facility, where a master meter meters the facility itself. Costs are calculated on the basis of actual use of kWh for electricity, cubic feet for gas and gallons for water.

2. What is Automatic Meter Reading (AMR)?
Each sub-meter will be linked through a communication medium, i.e. RS-485, PLC or RF frequency. GPP provides advanced software that allows the electricity consumption from each meter to be read automatically via the communication medium.

3. How do GPP meters work?
After installation in each unit, GPP meters will measure the electricity consumption for individual tenants in the facility. The facility still purchases the electricity from the utility, but now the facility can equitably charge the electricity usage to each tenant based on the actual electricity that tenant uses. The facility continues to receive an electric bill from the utility, GPP meters will help the facility allocate the utility costs based on the electricity consumption recorded from each GPP meter.

4. How do GPP meters benefit my customers and me?
When the electricity cost is estimated based on the square footage occupied, tenants that conserve will subsidize the electricity cost of those who are wasteful. With sub-metering, both the facility and tenants will learn to reinforce and manage energy conservation.
